‘I know a girl made of memories and phrases, lives her whole life in chapters and phases…’

unwritten.

I wasn’t planning to write this. Anything, really. The mere thought of trying to encapsulate a year in the life while balancing precariously between chapters {more on that later} seemed all too daunting.

Then I took a look at last year’s ’Fine Lines | Fresh Starts’ recap and thought, it practically writes itself.

Minus a few noteworthy alterations, the sentiment stands the test of time. Well, for the grand duration of one year, anyway.

{an excerpt}

‘If January 1 is your clean slate, so be it. But recognize that every moment has the potential to be unexpectedly beautiful in its own right, whether you’ve flipped the page or chosen to settle in and reread it a few more times.’

2023 has been many things, much like every year prior. Sifting through the photos on my camera roll in the pre-dawn hours {because, sleep is so much more satisfying when carved into several midday naps}, I passed through countless memories and milestones.

Days exploring beautiful landscapes and hours nestled in cozy cafés, time spent catching up with old friends and connecting with new ones, taking in an eclectic collection of cuisine and concerts, cityscapes and coasts.

There were the annual traditions, of course; sandwiched between a handful of once in a lifetime experiences one can only dare to hope might be the beginning of endless possibilities.

And then, the somewhat inevitable crash landing we all subconsciously brace for when things seem to be going just a bit too well… giving new significance to the term ‘clean slate’ as we head into 2024.

To those who have had a supporting role in this little play of life, thank you for being part of the story. Of my story. Far too many to mention, but I trust you know who you are. And for those yet to enter from the wings, I’ll be the one standing center stage, ready for my time in the spotlight. *said she with just a hint of stage fright.*

The little things? The little moments? — They aren’t little.

🥂 to the next chapter. Hell, burn the pages and write a new book. Everything is possible. Today. Tomorrow. Always.
